Daniel Peters
A prolific trapper and fishing boat captain from the wild and rugged Prince of Wales Island, Alaska, Daniel Peters learned from a young age the importance of living off the land in this isolated region where work can be sporadic, and resources are hard to come by. Growing up, Daniel honed his skills as a trapper, hunter, and fisherman to provide food and income for himself and his family. With the majority of his time spent either in the mountains or on a boat, he came to know the woods and waters of Southeast Alaska better than anyone. Now in his 30s, with a wife and four children of his own, his subsistence efforts have taken on an even greater responsibility. Venturing where few others dare to, Daniel battles the forces of mother nature daily to bring home fresh meat and fish to put on the dinner table, harvest valuable furs, and protect the region’s essential wild game against booming predator populations.
